I have been talking to my clients about the importance of responsive for a while, now Google ensures brands think Mobile First!
We are a mobile Nation, Australia ranks #2nd in highest smart phone penetration globally. The latest OzTam survey states that 69% of Australians 16+ have a smart phone, the first and last thing we do daily is pick up our phones.
Brands need to utilize their Analytics and closely monitor platform usage and interactions, and start considering mobile as a key engagement tool. Not just for SEO & Social but now for SEM, Display Advertising & Video.
According to Nielsen, people now spend 1:56 per month watching any online video on a mobile phone and this is increasing rapidly.

We need to be connected. I often ask clients ‘if you forgot your phone at home would you go back and get it no matter how far away you are?’ 99% of my clients respond as a definite YES, followed by ‘if I don’t I would be anxious as I would feel disconnected from the world’!
If you haven’t already I urge you to review your current CMS and ensure it is mobile friendly. If you are refreshing your CMS or creating a new website PLEASE consider Mobile First and Responsive design or you may be penalized by Mr Google and your Audience.
Also as much as mobile-friendly sites are important content still plays a key role in your sites search-ability, keep it fresh and relevant.
